Research & Policy

The Welcoming Committee research and policy project covers all areas of life in the UK, including education, housing and jobs. We have focused on what steps are needed, in terms of policy and practice to help Hong Kongers settle and integrate.

In line with our coordinating role across projects funded by DLUHC, we have carried out interviews with stakeholders funded to deliver a wide range of support to Hong Kongers. In the process we have gained insights into what is helping Hong Kongers to settle, and where the gaps are. We have also held a series of policy seminars focused on issues including data on Hong Kongers, employment and enterprise and ESOL.

To include the direct experiences, views and perspectives of Hong Kongers themselves we have been carrying out focus groups and interviews with individuals.

The findings of our first research and policy project has been published in early July 2022 in a report with policy recommendations on settlement and integration of Hong Kongers.  Our second research on education has been published in March 2023.
