Over 140,000 Hong Kongers have moved to the UK via the BN(O) visa route since January 2021. Our research finds that most of them intend to stay for a long time and contribute to the UK.

The Welcoming Committee for Hong Kongers coordinates the welcoming efforts across the UK, to help BN(O) Hong Kongers to realise their potential and contribute to the UK’s economy and society.

We have…

  • Conducted the largest survey to date of BN(O) Hong Kongers in the UK, with a sample of 2,000+ Hong Kongers.

  • Held high-profile conferences and events with a total of 1,000+ participants, attended by government ministers Tom Tugendhat and Felicity Buchan as well as parliamentarians and civil society leaders in migration.

  • Supported 100+ Hong Konger-led civil society organisations, welcoming organisations and Hong Konger-run businesses.

  • Our weekly digest reaches 1,000+ civil society leaders in migration. Our monthly forums bring together civil society leaders involved in welcoming.

  • Our work has also been covered by national, international and local media, including BBC TV News, Channel 5 News, Sunday Times, Financial Times, The Guardian and South China Morning Post.

Your support can help us to maintain our work to help Hong Kongers to settle in the UK and contribute to society. It can also allow us to expand our efforts to reach more Hong Kongers and those working to welcome them. We can also help you and your colleagues to learn more about their new neighbours and Hong Kong culture.

Get in touch with info@welcomehk.org.uk if you want to learn how your organisation can support us to help Hong Kongers settle and thrive at their new home.
