We help bring together the welcomers and the welcomed

About Us

The Welcoming Committee helps coordinate efforts to support Hong Kongers to settle in the UK, from civil society, communities, business, education and government, across the UK’s nations and regions. We help welcoming organisations to share their stories, in the media and online. We conduct research to inform policy and share best practice.

The WC4HK was established in response to the policy decision by the UK government to allow BN(O) passport holders from Hong Kong to live, work and study in the UK. With up to three million people eligible to take up the offer, this highlighted the need for a coordinated response across the country to welcome significant numbers of migrants from the region and help them to settle successfully in the UK.

The Welcoming Committee is hosted at British Future, a non-partisan think tank and registered charity working for a confident and inclusive Britain, welcoming and fair to all.

British Future is helping to make the links between welcoming efforts for new arrivals from Hong Kong and from Ukraine, Afghanistan and elsewhere – to help shape a welcoming movement that can promote social contact between welcomers and welcomed on a national scale.
